Natural Resources Research Institute University of Minnesota, Duluth

Our staff is committed to serving the Minnesota forest products industry and companies across the Midwest region. Our programs are designed to work with companies by evaluating their products, processes and technologies to keep the forest products industry vibrant. We are teaching companies to use lean manufacturing techniques to increase profitability, and also are using nondestructive evaluation methods for wood and timber products, including timber bridges in situ. Check out our wood utilization section which focuses on generating the new knowledge and technologies needed to maintain a vigorous, competitive, domestic forest products industry based on sustainable use of our forest resources. Additionally, our market oriented wood products staff identifies and develops new products and processes, with an emphasis in residues and waste stream composites.
