Tree Planting Programs

It’s no secret that planting a tree is one of the best actions that you can take to improve and protect the environment. What you may not know, however, is that there are already hundreds of programs and efforts dedicated towards planting trees! By planting trees, we can improve air quality, harbor wildlife, and reduce carbon emissions that affect our climate. Along with the environmental benefits, the outcome has many social advantages, including the enrichment of our cities and towns.

Below is an interactive map of “tree planting” programs and efforts in the United States. The map includes organizations that provide resources, information, and assistance for people interested in planting trees. Each organization offers opportunities to get involved, whether it’s planting trees or making donations for trees and seeds.

Click and drag the map to view all of the organizations. To get more information about an organization, click on its tree icon. A window will appear that states the group’s name, location, and link to their website. You can also zoom in and out on the map by using the plus and minus signs in the upper left hand corner.

You may also download a spreadsheet of all “tree planting” programs. The list contains the organization’s names, addresses, contact information, and websites. Click here to download.

tree planting organizations map

Hey this is a great idea. Hope there are more organizations that get listed in the future. I worked with Rneighborwoods in Rochester last year, and they are doing things right. In May they are holding an event to plant 1000 trees in one day.
