Land Use


Dovetail recognizes the links between sustainable forestry, responsible trade and consumption, and land use. Dovetail is interested in promoting land use research and planning and innovative programs that encourage and reward responsible land use activities. Dovetail is specifically interested in addressing and mimimizing land use impacts on soil and water resources.



Current Projects:

70-Mile Trail

This project includes the development of an extensive, first-rate ATV/OHV trail in Aitkin and Itasca Counties, Minnesota. The trail is designed to be environmentally sensitive, economically beneficial, and community supported.




Roundtable Discusses Forest Impact on People

In 2007, the Forest Products Laboratory in Madison, Wis. hosted another in a series of roundtable discussions on sustaining the nation’s forests. Dovetail Partners participated in the three-day meeting that brought in close to 100 people from all over the country and speakers from New Zealand and Canada. To read the article, click here.
