Dovetail Partners Grows Expertise in International Trade and Marketing with New Associate

Dr. Ed Pepke Joins Team of Environmental Think Tank


(Mpls, MN) - Dr. Ed Pepke of Geneva, Switzerland has joined Dovetail Partners, an environmental think tank based in Minneapolis, MN to lead their international forest products marketing and trade efforts as well as to participate in other projects for the forest sector.  Dr. Pepke also serves as the Senior Timber Trade and Policy Analyst for the European Union Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (EU FLEGT) Facility of the European Forest Institute.

Prior to his positions with Dovetail Partners and the EU FLEGT Facility, Dr. Pepke was the Forest Products Marketing Specialist for the United Nation's Economic Commission for Europe and Food and Agriculture Organization in Geneva, Switzerland for over 20 years.  He was responsible for the UNECE/FAO Forest Products Marketing Program.  His work involved analyzing forest products markets in the 56-country UNECE's region of North America, Europe, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).  He was also responsible for producing the UNECE/FAO Forest Products Annual Market Review.

Dr. Pepke also has significant experience in the United States.  Prior to working for the United Nations, Dr. Pepke was a marketing specialist for 12 years with the United States Forest Service, State and Private Forestry in St. Paul, Minnesota.  His duties involved marketing and industrial development assistance with states and private industry.  The marketing work was in solid wood products, furniture, energy wood and improved wood utilization.  He was also the Northeastern Area's Timber Bridge Coordinator. 


Dr. Pepke did his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University in forestland management and his masters’ degree in forest products technology.  He completed his doctoral degree in 1980 in forest products marketing and production management.  He currently lives with his wife in France (near Geneva).
