Dovetail Partners to Present at the AIA Wisconsin 'Timber Technology in Architecture' Workshop on November 6th

Kathryn Fernholz to present on Forests and Forest Products during opening morning session

(Minneapolis, MN) - Join Dovetail Partners, a Minneapolis-based environmental think tank, on November 6th in Madison, Wisconsin at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Wisconsin chapter hosted Fall Workshop. The workshop will explore timber technology in architecture. AIA members who attend may earn up to 6 AIA/CES learning unit hours.

In search of creative, cost-effective and sustainable design solutions for clients, architects are discovering advances in timber technology that enable the effective use of wood products in a broader array of projects. This year's AIA WI full-day workshop features a variety of informative and inspiring presentations on stewardship, technology, practice and design. Kathryn Fernholz, Dovetail's Executive Director, will be presenting a session titled, "Forests and Forest Products" during the morning session. The opening session will address stewardship and the sustainability of our forests and forest products - and why wood is an environmental-friendly choice.

Fernholz is a dynamic and compelling speaker who addresses environmental and sustainability issues stemming from a broad understanding of the complex interconnection between society and the natural environment. Fernholz is a leader and international expert on the responsible management of forests and farms, is a forester by training, a forest certification lead auditor, and has worked on development and forest management issues in a range of roles. She holds a B.S. in Forest Resources from the University of Minnesota and has held Board, Chair and membership positions with various organizations including the Minnesota Society of American Foresters, the Minnesota Forest Resources Council, the Blandin Foundation's Vital Forests/Vital Communities Initiative, the Minnesota Environmental Partnership, Renewing the Countryside and the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences Alumni Society. Currently, she serves on the Minnesota DNR's Stewardship Committee, Minnesota's Forests for the Future Committee, and the Woodlands Committee for the American Forest Foundation.
