Dovetail to Present Webinar on Differences Between FSC and SFI Certification Standards on July 23rd

(Mpls, MN) - Kathryn Fernholz, Dovetail Partners' Executive Director, will be presenting a webinar on the topic of forest certification standards. The webinar is titled Differences Between the FSC and SFI Forest Management Certification Standards and will give an overview of each program and explain recent updates and revisions. Participants will learn about key differences between the two standards and what they require forest managers to do. The information presented can be of use to natural resource professionals, as well as architects, engineers, builders and other consumers of wood products. The webinar is hosted by the Sustainable Forests Education Cooperative.

 

Kathryn is a forester by training and has worked on development and forest management issues in a range of roles for more than 15 years. Kathryn has developed and managed group certification projects for family forests and worked to increase local capacity to provide forest management and marketing services that are compatible with certification standards. In her role at Dovetail Partners, she has written, researched and presented on the topics of forest certification standards, sustainable forest management and best practices. Kathryn is an experienced forest certification lead auditor, having worked on FSC and SFI audits throughout the United States.

 

"Land managers, forest product companies, and consumers are all impacted by the standards that are applied to forest management," says Fernholz. "It is important to understand the different requirements of forest certification programs."
