Join Dovetail Partners and the Minnesota State Wood Innovation Team at the Mass Timber Conference, March 28-30th, 2017

Event in Portland, Oregon to include international experts


(Minneapolis, MN) -  Dovetail Partners and members of the Minnesota State Wood Innovation Team will be participating in the upcoming Mass Timber Conference taking place in Portland, Oregon on March 28-30th, 2017.


"The development of Mass Timber technologies offers important opportunities for our forests, the practice of forestry, and for companies that serve the building sector," says Brian Brashaw, Program Manager of the USDA Forest Service, Forest Products Marketing Unit, and team member of the Minnesota State Wood Innovation Team.


Brashaw will be leading several discussions throughout the Conference.  Dr. Jim Bowyer, of Dovetail Partners will also be moderating an Education Panel addressing “Counting the Environmental Green” In Mass Timber Construction on the morning of March 30th.


The Mass Timber Conference explores the entire supply chain for cross-laminated timber (CLT), nail-laminated timber, glulam panels, laminated veneer lumber, and other mass timber; and the opportunities and obstacles for mass timber building in global construction.


An extimated 700 attendees will benefit from 80 speakers, 4 focused educational tracks, 60 exhibits (and poster presentations) in the exhibit hall, multiple networking receptions, and one of the largest gatherings of CLT and mass timber experts in the world.


Expected attendees include: architects, engineers, city planners, sawmillers, mass timber manufacturers, loggers, mass timber equipment manufacturers and suppliers, economic developers, environmental NGO's, and land managers. The Mass Timber Conference attracts professionals from across the forest, manufacturing, design, and construction industries.

About the Minnesota State Wood Innovation Team
The Minnesota State Wood Innovation Team was established in 2015 through a grant from the USDA Forest Service. The team will strive to expand wood products markets and strengthen the forest industry in Minnesota while working to reduce hazardous fuels in the Superior and Chippewa National Forests and other state, county, and private forestlands. Led by the University of Minnesota Duluth's Natural Resources Research Institute and University of Minnesota Extension, the team represents Minnesota state agencies, universities, National Forests, State and other public and private landowners, economic development organizations, and private industry. This Team will focus on developing strategies and implementing on-the-ground actions that will enhance the forest industry and reduce fire risk in Minnesota in a sustainable manner.
