On Wednesday, June 4th Dovetail's Project Manager for Recycling and Reuse, Dr. Steve Bratkovich, will host a presentation entitled "Municipal Tree Disaster: A Personal Experience". The presentation will address two key strategies for managing municipal storm debris including use of a predetermined site for collection and storage, and developing a market for storm-related material. It will examine a wind storm that occurred in New Brighton, Minnesota, in September 2004, the use of these two key strategies by the community, and the resulting cost savings of at least $50,000. The presentation is part of a three-part discussion series focused on natural disaster response. Additional presentations in the series will include "St. Croix Valley Blowdown Response and Lessons Learned" presented by Jeremy Fauskee, Sandstone Area Forest Supervisor at MN DNR Department of Forestry; and "Hurricane Sandy and New Jersey's Forests' Recovery, Restoration and Resilience" presented by Bob Williams, Pine Creek Forestry Owner and Founder.

Dr. Bratkovich has over three decades of forestry and forest products experience. His areas of expertise include business, marketing and strategic planning; urban wood utilization; primary and secondary wood processing; and sustainable forest management.
