Join Dovetail at the 2014 Texas Wood Solutions Fair

Sessions to address EPDs, HPDs, LCA, forests and forest products

(Arlington, TX) - Join Dovetail Partners, a Minneapolis-based environmental think-tank, on November 12th at the 2014 Texas Wood Solutions Fair. Members of the Dovetail team will be presenting on diverse topics including Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Health Product Declarations (HPDs), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), forests and forest products. Wood Solutions Fairs are hosted by WoodWorks across various regions of the U.S. to provide information and insights on the use of wood in non-residential and multi-family buildings. There is no registration fee for the one-day event, walk-ins are welcome, and continuing education credits are available.

Kathryn Fernholz, Dovetail's Executive Director, will present a seminar titled "Forests and Forest Products". This presentation will answer many questions about forests and forest products, such as: 'Where do our trees and forests grow?', 'How have forests changed over time?', 'What is the relationship between people and forests - now and in the past?', 'How are forests managed - and are they being managed responsibly?', 'Are our forests and forest products sustainable?' and 'Why is wood an environmental-friendly choice?'.

Dr. Jim Bowyer, Dovetail's Director of Responsible Materials, will present a seminar titled "EPDs and HPDs: Opportunities within LEED v.4 and Green Globes". The presentation will address user-friendly product transparency and life cycle assessment tools including EPDs and HPDs and how they are being used to improve environmental impacts and occupant environment. The presentation will provide an overview of these tools, including what goes into their development, what they reveal, and how to use them effectively. Opportunities for applying EPDs, HPDs and LCA provisions within LEED v. 4, Green Globes and other green building standards will also be explored.

Each seminar will be presented twice, during morning and afternoon sessions. The Fair is free to attend and geared towards architects, engineers, developers, code officials and anyone with an interest in design possibilities for wood in the built environment.

The Texas Wood Solutions Fair will take place at the Arlington Convention Center on November 12th, 2014 from 8:00am - 5:00pm (CST). For registration and agenda, visit: http://www.woodworks.org/education-event/2014-texas-wood-solutions-fair/
