Join Dovetail at the 2015 Southeast Wood Solutions Fair

Sessions to address EPDs, HPDs, LCA, forests and forest products

(Atlanta, GA) - Join Dovetail Partners, a Minneapolis-based environmental think-tank, on March 4th at the 2015 Southeast Wood Solutions Fair. Members of the Dovetail team will be presenting on diverse topics including Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Health Product Declarations (HPDs), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), forests and forest products. Wood Solutions Fairs are hosted by WoodWorks across various regions of the U.S. to provide information and insights on the use of wood in non-residential and multi-family buildings. There is no registration fee for the one-day event, walk-ins are welcome, and continuing education credits are available.

Kathryn Fernholz, Dovetail's Executive Director, will present a seminar titled "Forests and Forest Products". This presentation will answer many questions about forests and forest products, such as: 'Where do our trees and forests grow?', 'How have forests changed over time?', 'What is the relationship between people and forests - now and in the past?', 'How are forests managed - and are they being managed responsibly?', 'Are our forests and forest products sustainable?' and 'Why is wood an environmental-friendly choice?'.

Dr. Jim Bowyer, Dovetail's Director of Responsible Materials, will present a seminar titled "LEED v4 and Credits for Wood Use". The presentation will address changes in the latest version of LEED (LEED v4) and their implications for wood use. Particular attention will be given to the Materials and Resources section of the standard, where the greatest changes have been made. Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Health Product Declarations (HPDs) - both of which are prominent within LEED v4 - will be explained, and their use, as well as potential issues associated with their use.

Each seminar will be presented twice, during morning and afternoon sessions. The Fair is free to attend and geared towards architects, engineers, developers, code officials and anyone with an interest in design possibilities for wood in the built environment.

The Southeast Wood Solutions Fair will take place at the Georgia International Convention Center on March 4th, 2015 from 8:00am - 5:00pm (UTC). For registration and agenda, visit:
