Chuck’s focus is on western forestry issues and family ownership of forests.  He brings a strong business and technical background, expertise in systems thinking, and forest policy to his work.

Chuck has always been involved with forestry in some way or another through his family’s ownership of forestland in Northeastern California.   He is a fifth generation forest owner and has been actively involved in the broader forest community as an advocate on the local, state and national level.  He has been on various industry boards and commissions including the National Alliance of Forest Owners to the American Forest Foundation to the California Tree Farm Committee.

Prior to engaging full time in the forestry sector, Chuck was an entrepreneur, running two small businesses.  He came to that out of the tech sector where he spent twenty years in various R&D, manufacturing, marketing and business development roles for Hewlett Packard and Serena Software.

Chuck has an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in Physics from UC Berkeley, along with a certificate in Sustainable Management from the Presidio Graduate School in San Francisco
