Robert Hrubes

Robert J. Hrubes, Ph.D., Executive Vice President of SCS Global Services, is a professional forester and resource economist with nearly 40 years of varied professional experience in the natural resource and environmental management arenas.  For the past 20+ years, Dr. Hrubes has devoted his professional career to the design, execution and administration of market based mechanisms for bringing about voluntary improvement in natural resource management of both privately and publicly held resources.  He is a founding member of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), served on the Founding Board of the FSC for 5 years and was the principal architect of the SCS Forest Conservation Program, accredited since 1995 as a leading certification body under the FSC.  He has also played leadership roles in development of similar certification programs in marine fisheries, aquaculture and carbon offsets.  Dr. Hrubes has travelled extensively around North America and the world, leading certification audits and speaking at natural resources symposia, particularly those focusing on market based solutions to environmental and natural resource issues.


Prior to joining SCS Global Services in 2000, Dr. Hrubes spent 12 years in economics and environmental consulting

and, before that, 14 years working for the USDA Forest Service in a variety of positions.  He has and continues to

serve on numerous governing and advisory Boards.
