Dovetail’s Abby Andrus and Nia Moses Becker Lead Forest Management Planning for Duluth Minnesota
---
The City of Duluth and the Minnesota Land Trust contracted Dovetail Partners to develop a Forest Management Plan for three large natural areas within the City of Duluth totaling around 6,000 acres. Abby Andrus and Nia Moses Becker spearheaded the project, which included a detailed forest inventory of mature and regenerating trees, description of current forest conditions, stand delineation by forest type, and management recommendations. This resource will support the City of Duluth in meeting their long-term forest health, climate resilience, and public recreation goals while providing valuable datasets to support future forestry projects. Funding for this project was provided by the State of Minnesota through the Outdoor Heritage Fund as recommended by the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council (LSOHC) under a grant for “DNR St. Louis River Restoration Initiative Ph. 9” (ML 2022, Ch. 77, Art. 1, Sec. 2, subd. 5(q)).
